Hi, I'm LA-based photographer Dima Otvertchenko and I grew up as an immigrant around New York City - writing stories, drawing comic books, making music, and any other kind of world-building I could afford.

After studying film at Vassar College, I worked at Sony Pictures and HGTV before completing my MFA in Film Production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts - with work featured at festivals like SXSW and Palm Springs ShortFest.

I applied what I learned in narrative cinema to freelance photography, specializing in journalism, editorial, and portraiture - then deepened my craft under the mentorship of iconic Hollywood photographer Douglas Kirkland as his lead assistant and studio manager.

Today, I work full-time, while taking on commissioned jobs and personal creative projects. My local street photography series Blue Hour Valley is in its 7th year exploring the 818 at twilight. Featured in various publications, exhibits, and stores, this labor of love continues to evolve.

I love cats, Korean BBQ, and the New Jersey Devils.
